“Start with the number 142,857. Try multiplying it by 2 and write down your answer. Now multiply it by 3.  Continue until you get to 6, recording all your answers. Look closely at the digits in each of your answers. What do you notice? Now multiply the mysterious number by 7. Can you ‘explain yourself’ and make sense of these answers?”
